UnBought and UnBossed is a tribute to the spirit and determination of late Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, who was the first African American woman in Congress (1968) and the first woman and African American to seek the nomination for President of the United States from one of the two major political parties (1972). Chisholm declared herself to be a representative of all people and committed to serving as a leader who would remain “unbought and unbossed.”

This event has been a Chattanooga favorite for many companies, professionals, and community leaders, with thousands of supporters celebrating and honoring female community leaders who exemplify the Girls Inc. mission: Strong, Smart, and Bold.

The year 2024 marks the 20th UnBought and UnBossed event and to commemorate this milestone, we're hosting a Sneaker Gala and Silent Auction. This gala promises to be a one-of-a-kind celebration!
