PROGRAM VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Program volunteers engage directly with our girls in a classroom setting. They can fill a variety of roles such as Volunteer Mentors, Program Interns and various one-time opportunities.
Volunteer mentors are an integral part of our programming and act as positive role models in our girls-only environment. Volunteer mentors are assigned to an after-school program (based on volunteer interests) and attend program sessions with the girls. We ask that volunteer mentors attend a minimum of 4 sessions per session, each session lasting 1.5 to 2 hours.
Program Intern (unpaid)
Program intern is an unpaid position designed for students, at the undergraduate or graduate level, who want to gain experience and academic credit in education, social work or other related fields. The program intern will receive comprehensive training and shadow the Program Coordinator, and will assist in leading after-school programming. Program interns are expected to commit at least 30-40 hours per semester.
One-time Volunteer Opportunities
One time volunteer opportunities will be announced to those in the Girls Inc. of Chattanooga network when available.
One-time volunteers, specifically from the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, are invited to be a guest speaker at our programs or camps. Guest speakers are invited to talk about the company they work for and their specific role. More importantly, they answer questions from the girls and provide them with valuable professional insight into non-traditional career fields.
Occasionally, one-time volunteers are needed to serve as chaperones for our academic and professional field trips to explore local companies and universities.
